I was commissioned by Glasgow University to produce a piece of work about George Beatson, for the Huntarian Museum. As I researched his work and life I was surprised that there were so little visual evidence of a man who had been so pivotal in the history and development of modern medicine. I was supplied with one photographic image, and a copy of a portrait painting. I became interested in producing a sculpture portrait, which due to lack of visual information became a sort of forensic investigation of the man and the times.
